Streaming is not an excuse to thrash the scroll position. Pin the bottom intentionally; give users control if they scroll up to read history.

Render partial markdown carefully. Half-open code fences look broken even when the model is mid-thought.

Provide a stable “stop” affordance and a clear last-error state. Silent hangs are worse than explicit failures.

Prefer progressive disclosure for tool traces. Power users want logs; everyone else wants the answer.

Latency perception improves more with honest progress than with fake typewriter delays.
