EventRent started as a real operational need: people requesting equipment, admins needing visibility, and notifications that do more than look pretty.

Shipping the request-to-admin path end to end was more valuable than polishing a brochure homepage. Stakeholders care that requests show up, get reviewed, and leave a trace.

Technical choices stayed pragmatic — React and Express for a clear client/server split, email notifications for human-in-the-loop steps, and room to grow storage later.

If you are building internal or campus tools, optimize for the operational loop first. Dashboards without an intake path are just dashboards.

The interesting work is rarely the framework. It is making a workflow people already do offline feel faster and less error-prone online.
